Suppliers and buyers talk business at Finditinworcestershire

The chance to do business with some of the county’s biggest names was the focus of the latest Finditinworcestershire breakfast and networking meeting this week.
Ready, willing and able suppliers from all around Worcestershire took part in exclusive one-to-one meetings with buyers from Thomas Vale Construction, Speller Metcalfe and Kier on Tuesday 17 April.
Worcestershire County Council’s Head of Property Services also met with prospective local suppliers as future development plans were discussed in detail.
More than 150 delegates turned out for ‘Construction: Meet the buyer’ at Worcester Warriors’ Sixways Stadium.
Speller Metcalfe, Kier and Thomas Vale Construction are part of the West Midlands Contractor Framework, which manages all of the county council’s construction and refurbishment projects.
Attendees who took part in the one-to-one sessions talked to the buyers about forthcoming plans, opportunities to join the supply chain and how the contractors’ procurement processes work.
To coincide with the meeting, the Finditinworcestershire website has launched bespoke pages for each major contractor on the framework that will list all of the contract opportunities available to supply their major projects. Members can log in and visit the Major Contractors’ Projects pages.
The meeting also included an open networking session for local business owners, directors and senior managers to make new contacts, as well as a range of exhibition stands and a complimentary breakfast.
The presentations from 'Construction: Meet the buyer' can be viewed or downloaded here.
"It was great to see so many local companies getting to know potential purchasers for their goods and services," said Kathryn Wagstaff, Project Manager of Finditinworcestershire. "Finditinworcestershire is very grateful to Thomas Vale, Speller Metcalfe, Kier and the County Council for their continued support and I’m delighted that they too experience real benefits from our meetings. They and their suppliers can work with our members to keep their supply chains local, with all of the economic and environmental advantages that brings. Finditinworcestershire is committed to supporting the local economy and that’s exactly what today’s meeting has achieved.”
The next event in Finditinworcestershire’s programme of monthly breakfast and networking meetings, ‘Cyber-security: A practical guide’, will take place on Tuesday 15 May.
