Worcestershire County Council’s Proof of Concept grant funding programme is designed to help SMEs investigate, advance, commercialise and protect early stage innovative business ideas, through a partnership with the Central Technology Belt (CTB).

Grants of up to 50% of the total cost of a project (up to £30,000) are available for businesses to prove that their innovations have significant economic potential.

What type of activity does the grant cover?

Proof of Concept funding covers a whole host of areas, such as new machinery (hardware and equipment), market research and assessment, IPR protection, accreditations, prototyping, marketing and building work.

How do I know if I’m eligible?  

To qualify for a grant, businesses must:

• Be situated in and trading from Worcestershire

• Employ fewer than 250 employees

• Have a turnover of less than the equivalent of 50 million Euros per annum or a balance sheet of less than 43 million Euros

• Demonstrate that they can match fund the remaining 50% of the project costs

Where does the funding come from?

This project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.
