An exciting new chapter has begun at King’s Worcester this week with the official start of Phase One of the redevelopment of the Sixth Form Centre, scheduled for completion at the end of August.

In Detail

Facilities for the new centre will be enhanced with a remodelling of an existing building in the middle of the school campus, the Victorian School House, and will see the addition of a plethora of enviable new sixth form amenities, including a new café, lift access, reconfigured group and individual study spaces for students and additional washroom facilities.

Headmaster, Gareth Doodes said: “This is an exciting time for the growth of the King’s Worcester Sixth Form. Phase One of will offer a larger space in which students will be able to learn, study, meet, engage with mentors and support staff, and develop the skills required to ensure they have an effective transition into Higher Education and the working world.”

Through the collaboration of renowned architects, Squires and Brown, and award-winning construction company, Speller Metcalfe, the Sixth Form Centre will offer a first-class facility in the heart of Worcester City Centre.

Matthew Bailey, Divisional Director from Speller Metcalfe added: “We are delighted to be on site at The King’s School to deliver the development of their Sixth Form Centre. As a local contractor and project partner, we know that the provision of places for sixth formers is in high demand; by creating a modern space for students, we hope this will support pupils of the future, both those coming up through the school and students joining after GCSEs from the wider community.”

The investment in the centre will sit alongside the redevelopment of the sixth form curriculum by deputy head academic, Katie Beever.

From September, students will benefit from an extended curriculum, augmenting the exceptional academic provision at King’s with an enhanced qualification programme that will assist students as they enter Higher Education and the world of work.
