In Detail

Yvonne Leishman O.B.E, Managing Director of Kidderminster based The Community Housing Group (TCHG), retired in April after 17 years in the role and a career in housing spanning 42 years.

In 2000, Yvonne joined Wyre Forest Community Housing as Housing Director when it took the transfer of housing stock from Wyre Forest District Council. She moved to the role of Managing Director of The Community Housing Group in 2005.

Yvonne started her career as a housing officer at South Yorkshire Housing Association following the completion of her degree in housing management.

Following a move to Kirklees Metropolitan Council, she became deputy director of housing and then director of housing at Family Housing Association in Birmingham before taking up her role at Wyre Forest.

Ray Brookes, TCHG’s Group Chief Executive said “Yvonne has always been passionate about the provision of good quality, affordable housing for all and has helped us to develop a successful and award winning new homes programme in the district. She will be particularly proud of our latest development in Kidderminster, Berrington Court which provides luxury retirement living together with extra care services within a 100 bed complex”

Andy Ballard, Group Chair said “Yvonne’s achievements are considerable, including receiving an OBE for her services to housing and holding the position as President of the Chartered Institute of Housing. Her legacy in the Wyre Forest will be a long lasting one and along with everyone at The Community Housing Group, I would like to wish her a very happy retirement”

The Group has taken the opportunity to review its structure following Yvonne’s departure and in preparation for the changes, recruited David Hanman into the post of Director of Independent Living Services and Nick Parker as the Director of Housing and Neighbourhoods.
