Fundraising for the Three Peaks Challenge is supported by a Worcester charity event.

As its staff prepare to tackle the Three Peaks Challenge this month, a Worcester recruitment firm raised money at a special charity event.

A charity auction at Bottles in Worcester’s Friar Street raised £2,070 for a local children’s and disabilities charity, New Hope, with the team from city jobs firm GMP Recruitment raising £2,070. The event surpassed its fundraising target of £3,000.

Mike Pincott, the director and co-founder of GMP Recruitment, along with James Cronin and Charlotte Harkin from its parent company, the Jarell Group, will climb the UK's three highest mountains in succession.

During the 24-hour challenge, they will walk 23 miles and climb over 3,000 meters on Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon, all of which cover a distance of 462 miles between the Scottish, English, and Welsh mountains.

As a result of the event, the trio has raised over £5,000 for New Hope, which provides specialist day care for children with disabilities and complex healthcare needs, as well as respite care for their parents and caregivers.

As a father, Mike is particularly passionate about the charity because his two-year-old daughter Ava suffers from Angelman Syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes speech problems, balance difficulties, and seizures.

Mike Pincott said: “More than anything, we would like to thank the amazing team at Bottles for allowing us to take over the venue free of charge.

“The event has greatly boosted our fundraising for New Hope and taken us way beyond the target we had set. To see so many people from across Worcester’s business community attending and supporting us was wonderful and our charity auction and entertainment were a big hit.

“Now it is onto the big challenge which lies ahead in the shape of the UK’s three biggest mountains. James, Charlotte, and I have been training hard for what we know is going to be a tough 24 hours, but it will all be worthwhile to raise a great amount for a charity that does so much for so many families.”

The GMP Recruitment company was founded in 2019 and recruits for permanent and temporary positions in industries such as industry, legal, finance, logistics, offices, and hospitality. It is part of The Jarell Group, a workplace solutions specialist with offices in London, Birmingham, Leeds, and Walsall.
