In Detail

Worcestershire businesses are being urged to sign up for two lectures being held by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce later this year.

The lectures, which form part of the Chamber’s Lecture Series, are aimed at providing businesses with the chance to be inspired by senior business leaders, as well as join a new community of leaders in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Details of the two forthcoming sessions, which will take place from 9am until 12noon at the University of Worcester’s St John’s Campus, are as follows:

Generation Z: Communications & Engagement – Thursday, March 9

Dr David Bozward, Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Strategic Lead for Entrepreneurship at Worcester Business School, will discuss how businesses can achieve higher engagement and communication from Generation Z.

His lecture will explore how this generation is instantly connected and interconnected, with access to everything all of the time. Their world is centred around smartphones, text messages, instant messaging, Skype, online social communities, like Facebook and Twitter, or self-publishing tools, like YouTube and WordPress, and the only way you can get the most from them is on their terms.

Adventure is There – One Step Outside Your Comfort Zone – Thursday, June 8

Martin Rhodes MSc MBA MIET, has had a distinguished military career and has an impressive list of honours and awards. In his lecture, Martin will describe how to take a group of unacquainted Royal Naval Reservists and relatively novice sailors and bind them into a high performing team that’s able to compete effectively in one of the world’s most prestigious international sailing races.

This session explores leadership and life lessons that are as applicable to a leader in business as they are on the open ocean and the modern battlefield.
